Behind the Scenes
Some of my research is based on the idea that self-disclosure fosters online connections - this is my attempt to put that philosophy into practice.
Here are three behind-the-researcher fun facts about me:
I'm an avid fiction reader
As a child, I would walk out of the library each week carrying a stack of books that often blocked my sight line. While I took a small break during the early years of my PhD program (doctoral coursework, it turns out, is a substitute good), I'm working towards matching those early years again - in 2024, I read 50 books (be my friend on GoodReads to follow along with my 2025 progress)!
I talk about my dog a lot
We wanted a nice 30-lb dog for NYC apartment living, and ended up with a 75-lb bundle of energy and fluff. It's 45 more pounds to be obsessed with. Ruben has been an incredible cohort mate: he thinks all my research ideas are great, never asks tough questions during presentations, and comforts me when *just one more study* doesn't yield predicted results. Check out his Instagram account for more photos (and to follow along with our dog-fostering journey).
You can find me on Spotify
I sang in an a cappella group in undergrad (which is how I met my husband - it's basically real-life Pitch Perfect), and we put out a few albums. Though I hear the current group no longer sells physical CDs, you can stream them on Spotify (half a cent per stream means you'd only have to listen 400 times for them to earn enough money for a single beer)! I sing this song in an embarrassing Hebrew accent, and duet on this one in English.
